iPods Bridging Language Barriers
According to this story from Apple Insider, the US Military is experimenting with iPods as a form of a translator. The iPod provides translation for soldiers and Iraqi citizens.
The iPod is less threatening and because it’s so universal already, some Iraqis are also familiar with it already. It has bridged the cultural divide.
The software running the translation is Vcommunicator Mobile from Vcom 3D.
The iPod remains almost stock with just some adjustments to make it more dust proof. Other than that and the loaded software, it’s pretty much stock.
This is one use of the iPod that’s truly amazing.
